Montessori events- Origami, Clay Modelling and “A Day on the Farm”
“The child gives us a beautiful lesson – that in order to form and maintain our
intelligence, we must use our hands."
~Dr. Maria Montessori
The students of the Montessori division at NAFL North were given a wonderful opportunity
to showcase their confidence and independence through activities like Origami, Clay
Modelling and an enactment called “Aday on the farm”.
For the origami event, the Seniors put up a display of craft which included making a dog, cat,
pig and fan. Under the clay modeling event for the Juniors, children made some vegetables,
fruits along with animals like a snake and objects like a gummy bear. To end this eventful
week on a high, we had our Freshers dressed as farm animals, which was a sight for everyone
to enjoy. Our little animals displayed their acts with great exuberance. They came dressed as
a parrot, honeybee, a cow, sheep and goat, to name a few.
Independence, as we know is synonymous to the Montessori pedagogy. It is an attribute that
all students displayed coupled with the sense of satisfaction and joy at the end of the event.
