Events of the First Semester (2019 - 2020)

Groove Brigade

The Pre-primary children of NAFL-North hosted their first dance event for the academic year 2019-20, DANCE-A-THON. The event began with high spirits and the little tots were excited to perform to their favourite tunes.

The children, dressed in colourful costumes, danced their heart out using various props and showcased different dance forms.

The judges were delighted with the wonderful performances and the peers were ever so encouraging with their cheers and applause.

Funtastical Faces

The Face Painting competition was held on 5th July 2019 at NAFL North.

The participants from Grade 6 to 8, overwhelmed the judges as the room came alive with lots of colour and life. The student artists painted their models and unleashed their hidden potential. Instantly the students were metamorphosed into beautiful imaginary beings and animated faces. They came out with their artistic and creative ideas in the most unique way.

A peek into the glass garden

The Kindergarten students of National Academy for Learning- North had a fun filled field trip to the Art and Soil at Yelahanka on the 8th of August 2019. Art and Soil is a brand that specialises in terrariums, air plants, and succulents and ensures that it’s always ‘Spring’ in your home or office.

The children were very enthusiastic about the trip and took utmost interest in learning the art of making a terrarium. They learnt to share, express, create and tend to the terrariums. Keeping in mind the Independence Day theme, the children took home the terrariums which were layered in the tri-colours of the flag.

The wheels on the fire truck go…

A visit to the Fire Station is an exciting experiential way of teaching children about the role of Firefighters in our community and thanking them for keeping us safe. On 8th August, 2019 the Montessori students of NAFL-North visited the fire station at Devanahalli. Their presence immediately lightened the mood throughout the station.

The little ones got an opportunity to see the life of a firefighter inside the fire station along with the fire trucks and all the equipment. They also got a hands-on experience on Fire Safety.

They enjoyed a free ride in the fire truck! It was a fun-filled, interactive and an informative trip.

Art Attack

Worli /Madhubani art competition was organized on 28th June 2019 for the students of Grade 4-5. NAFL North saw students explore the extent of their imagination and express themselves freely. The competition was extremely successful and students were well appreciated by all the teachers and our Vice Principal, Ms. Hemalata Pillai.

IncrEdibles

“Laughter is brightest where the food is the best”

The students of Kindergarten at NAFL-North donned their ‘Chef Caps’ to exhibit their culinary skills in ‘IncrEdibles- cooking without fire’ a competition that was held on 20th September 2019. The little chefs participated with zeal and enthusiasm as they doled out nutritious yet delectable delicacies with cheese as their secret ingredient. The dishes displayed proved to be a visual treat not only for the palate but also, for the eyes. The event provided a platform for the students to foster their creativity and helped them explore their hidden talents.

Our path to freedom

NAFL North celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great fervor with its students and staff on 15th August 2019. Our tricolor was proudly unfurled by our Vice-Principal, Ms. Hemalata Pillai who was flanked by the school council members. Her impassioned address in Hindi called for honesty, dignity and the need to take pride in our own culture. A patriotic song medley and dance performances by students of Grade 4-9, further fanned the patriotic fervor of all present there.

The cynosure of all eyes was also the celebration of the Sanskrit Diwas. NAFLites rendered shlokas in Sanskrit and also spoke about our Independence in Samskritham after the flag hoisting ceremony.

Presenting future leaders

Mahatma Gandhi quoted “In a gentle way, you can shake the world”. We indeed shook the world in our first ever elections of the student council and the elected representative were sworn in during the Investiture Ceremony on 19th July to honour our future leaders. Dr. Bindu, our Director, congratulated the newly elected cabinet and told them to learn everything there was to learn during the school years to face the umpteen challenges when they left school. It was followed by a cultural programme performed by the talented Primary and Secondary students.

The March on the Silk Route

26th July saw the students of Grade 6 to 8 visiting the Sericulture farm or silk farming in Doddaballapur. Sericulture is the rearing of silkworms for the production of silk.

The personnel of the silk farm educated the students about the process involved in rearing silkworms and the different stages in sericulture. The students witnessed the feeding of silkworms from the Mulberry garden, which is their staple food. The students were very glad to gain useful information and watch the practical methods involved in Sericulture.

Going the AI Way

The STEM lab at NAFL-North was inaugurated by our Director, Dr. Bindu Hari on 19th July 2019.

NAFL North decided to initiate STEM based learning on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics — as an inter-disciplinary approach to the curriculum. Our students will experience learning with fun activities through various pre-designed modules developed by subject experts.

#Funwithfootball

On 23rd August, 2019, there was an excited buzz in NAFL – North, as we held our maiden inter-school football tournament – Titan’s Trophy for boys of Grades 3 to 5. The event was graced by a young, self-motivated and ambitious player, as our chief guest, Mr. Nitish Sharma of the BARCA Academy. We saw budding footballers from all our sister concern schools participate in the true spirit of the game. The run up to the event taught our students about teamwork, dedication and sportsmanship. A spirited match ensued, and the best team took the rolling trophy home.

Charity starts from within

As someone said, “Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I’ll understand.

On 21st June 2019 on the occasion of our Founder’s Day, a small donation drive started at NAFL North to instill the values like compassion, empathy and the joy of giving amongst the students of Grades 1 to 12. The aim was to sensitize and make our students aware about the world they don’t see, but that exists all the same. One of the most endearing images is when students started donating the materials like- soft toys, books, pens, pencils, story books and other important resources, especially for education.

About 30 students from grades 9 to 12 visited the Government School in Devanahalli on Friday, 30th August, 2019 to donate the materials. They effortlessly grasped the idea of optimum utilization being a prerequisite to recycling.

Whackier than thou!

The Kindergarten students of NAFL- North let their hair down the “Whackiest” way on 22nd August, 2019. The tots came in well-prepared, having the funkiest and most innovative hairstyles. The judges were impressed and had a whacky time judging the creativity of each child.
